The above quote by the founder of the University of Peradeniya, aptly describes the goal of a modern day university. Sadly, Universities of Sri Lanka have become a hub of anti-social activities led by politically motivated factions of students to fulfill various misguided political aspirations. Ragging is one of the tools used by these anti-social elements to control, manipulate and mobilize the general student community to become unwittingly involved in such activities.

Initially ragging was initiated as a method to interact with students who have recently joined the University. However over time it has evolved into a means of brain washing freshers through mental, physical and social harassment.

Now comes the question "Who are Anti-Raggers, and what is their role in all of this?". The common tendency is to consider Anti-Raggers as a dissident group of students going against the mainstream of students. However, we Anti-Raggers are just a group of students who have the courage to reject what is wrong, even though that wrong has become an accepted norm. We believe that, our universities, which are hallowed institutes of higher education, should not gain notoriety due to the thuggery of ragging.

This site is launched to promote unity and mutual understanding among Anti-raggers, and to create an awareness about the detriments of anti-social activities, such as ragging, prevailing in Universities of Sri Lanka.This site also illustrates the necessity of joining the anti-raggers in order to lead a successful and satisfactory undergraduate life. Furthermore through this site we hope to reach out to freshers and to students who are expecting to join universities in the future and show them that together we can rid ourselves of this cowardly behaviour once and for all.
